Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) provides high-resolution and high-depth-of-field images of the surface and near the surface of a sample. SEM is one of the most widely used analytical tools as it can quickly provide very detailed images. SEM provides elemental identification of almost the entire periodic table and is also adept at generating detailed images of surface topography. CD BioSciences offers Zeiss Sigma VP 3view-based scanning electron microscopy Imaging services available to assist customers in biological and materials research.
1. Schottky field emission gun (FEG) SEM for high resolution imaging
2. Variable pressure (VP) capability enabling study of non-conductive material
3. Equipped with Gatan 3view 2×P serial block face (SBF) SEM system, enabling fully automated serial sectioning through resin-embedded samples
4. Dedicated low kV BSE detector providing TEM quality backscatter electron images, revealing cellular structures in a wide range of life-science samples
5. Tomographic z-resolution < 30 nm using the 3view system
6. Up to 32k × 24k pixel image collection
7. This Sigma can also be fitted with a regular, motorised SEM stage for routine imaging of both bulk and electron transparent samples
8. Compatible for use with correlative microscopy system, Shuttle and Find
