Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) provides high-resolution and high-depth-of-field images of the surface and near the surface of a sample. SEM is one of the most widely used analytical tools as it can quickly provide very detailed images. SEM provides elemental identification of almost the entire periodic table and is also adept at generating detailed images of surface topography. CD BioSciences offers Zeiss Gemini 560 FE-SEM-based scanning electron microscopy Imaging services available to assist customers in biological and materials research.
This SEM has a cross-over free Zeiss Gemini 3 column, featuring the updated Nano Twin lens for µLtra low magnetic field, permitting high resolution imaging at low voltage. The Gemini 560 uses a low to moderate beam energy (0.02 to 30 keV) to image samples in high-vacuum with 0.5 nm resolution at 15 keV and 0.8 nm at 1 keV. Available detectors include In-lens SE; Everhart-Thornley detector; Energy Selective Backscatter (EsB). The instrument also includes a vacuum transfer shuttle for air-free transfer.
The Gemini 560 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) enables µLtra high resolution surface examination and analysis. An airlock chamber with integrated navigation camera enables rapid sample loading.
