This system from Zeiss combines laser microdissection with optical tweezers. The UV based laser microdissection allows contact- and contamination-free collection of specific cells, tissue or subcellular structures. Precise definition of the cut areas allows accurate DNA/RNA/protein isolation. A supplementary infra-red laser beam can be used as optical tweezers. The micro tweezers allow contact free manipulation of cells as well as trapping and moving of microscopic particles such as beads or subcellular structures. The system can be used with different capture vials, including standard microcentrifuge tube caps as well as 96well capture plates.
