Optical Microscope Imaging Service—Zeiss LSM900 & Airyscan2

Optical microscopy, allows us to see and understand the microscopic world beyond our perception. Today, optical microscopy is at the heart of many scientific and technical fields, including life sciences, biology, materials science, nanotechnology, industrial inspection, medicine, and many more. CD BioSciences, the imaging experts, can provide you with optical microscopy imaging services based on Zeiss LSM900 & Airyscan2.

Name of the Instrument/Platform

Zeiss LSM900 & Airyscan2

MANUFACTURER:
Zeiss

Introduction

The system incorporates a smart, efficient detector disposition based on two variable beam splitters that drive the light to 3 detectors: 2 standard GaAsPs with high sensitivity across the spectrum, and the Airyscan2 detector. This is an array of 32 single GaAsP detectors arranged as a rosette which, in combination with the 40× / 1.3 objective, allows for super-resolution performance (down to 150 nm). Alternatively, this optical combination allows for use as a slit scanning confocal, increasing scanning speed by 8×.
Additionally, the system boasts an AxioCam 702 mono camera, enabling widefield acquisitions using the Colibri7 LED light source.
• Specifications
1. Imaging: Point, Array and Slit scanning confocal.
2. Detectors:
1) Quasar detector:
a. 32-channels GaAsP detector, 2 PMTs for Fluorescence (PMT2 is cooled)
2) Airyscan2 detector:
a. 32-channel GaAsP detector rosette
b. 1 PMT for Transmitted Light
c. Axiocam 705 mono camera for widefield
3. Detection range: From 405 nm to 750

Applications

1. Optical z-sectioning of fixed samples
2. 3D-super-resolution imaging
3. Fast confocal scanning of fixed samples
4. Live cell imaging with stage-top environmental control (37C, CO2)
5. Overlay of multiple fluorescence images with transmitted light images
6. Widefield imaging of fixed samples

Summary

The Zeiss LSM900 is a compact system delivering superb performance for routine fixed sample imaging using a laser scanning confocal. Mounted on an inverted microscope, it enables the scan live cells by using water immersion lenses, a stage-top chamber for environmental control and focus drift correction.
