Applications

STED 2-color super-resolution imaging (far-red/orange), with 40 nm resolution. Green long-Stoke shift dyes can also be used for super-resolution in the green part of the spectrum (80 nm). Special fluorophores required for all channels.

Summary

Awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2014, STED is a super-resolution technique that enables visualizing your sample with 40 nm resolution. The STEDYCON system is a compact STED that boasts a powerful 775 nm depletion laser, enabling far-red and orange super-resolution imaging. Basically, the 775 nm laser creates a donut of light that narrows down the emission spot we create images with, hence increasing resolution. On top of that, the system has sensitive detectors that allow for 4-color confocal imaging (blue, green, orange/red, far red).
