Biological imaging is an important research tool for understanding tissue structure and elucidating the various physiological functions of living organisms. It uses light or electron microscopy to obtain direct images of the microstructure of biological cells and tissues, and the resulting images are analyzed to understand the various physiological processes of biological cells. CD BioSciences' Bioimaging Centre has dozens of devices and, more importantly, our expertise and experience are invaluable to the industries and clients we serve. We can provide Scanco Medical Viva CT40-based bioimaging services.
The Scanco Viva CT40 is a high-speed micro CT preclinical scanner with in vivo capabilities for resolving dense tissues including bone (quantification of porosity/volume/density), contrast enhanced structures such as vasculature, tissue engineering scaffolds, and bioengineered and synthetic materials. The CT is equipped with a microfocus X-ray source capable of 5 μm spot size and 50-70 kVp, 8W (160 μA) and can achieve 10 μm nominal resolution. Images can cover a maximum scan length of 145 mm with a field-of-view up to 20-38 mm in diameter. Samples can be up to 80 mm in diameter and upto 200 mm in length. The system includes software for data acquisition, online/offline reconstruction, 2D & 3D analysis and reconstruction, 3D visualization and animation, and archiving. Images can be output into multiple formats (including DICOM) for analysis by third party software.
