The Covaris M220 is a focused ultra-sonicator that can be used to randomly fragment nucleic acids in a selected size. It is specially designed for NGS applications requiring fragment sizes between 150bp and 5kb with a uniform genome coverage. Different protocols are available on the Covaris-website.
We have experience with 2 types of tubes:
• Micro-tube-50 to shear 50-55 µL sample with a capacity of 10 ng-5 µg DNA. Fragment sizes from 150 to 800 bp can be obtained.
• Micro-tube-15 to shear 15-20µL sample with a capacity from 50 pg-1 µg DNA. Fragment sizes from 150 to 550 bp can be obtained.
