2. Radiation therapy targeting and delivery
3. Study radiation effects in complex systems
4. Testing Immunotherapy agents with radiation to fight cancer
5. Innovating methods to spare healthy tissue from toxic radiation
6. Forming damage in normal tissue to test treatment efficacy
7. Whole body irradiation to deplete bone marrow to knockdown the immune system
8. X-ray virus inactivation
9. Stem cell research: Radiation can be used to decrease the host's immune system for introduction of stem cells. Stem cells can also be used to rescue tissue from radiation injury.
10. Cancer research: test novel and current treatments in combination with radiation
We houses the X-RAD 320 irradiator (Pecision X-Ray). X-RAD 320 is an easy-to-use powerful shielded X-ray irradiator available for use in in vivo and in vitro studies. A 20×20 cm field and use of a pie cage enables fast and easy whole-body irradiation of a maximum of 11 mice at once. X-RAD 320 is equipped with a collimator and anesthesia system which provide the option of targeted irradiation. Besides in vivo use (zebrafish to rats), change of filters also enables application for in vitro studies.
